Editorial policy

What goes into the vault is governed by these commitments.

  • Hand finished: no caption is published as drafted; each is reworked until it reads like something worth keeping.
  • Nothing borrowed: we do not reprint lines from greeting cards, songs or other caption sites.
  • Fit for the moment: a wedding caption must suit a wedding, and a sad caption must comfort rather than deepen the ache.
  • Secular festivities: occasion pages celebrate the day itself, so friends of every background can use them.
