How we write

People borrow our words for anniversaries, goodbyes and first birthdays, so the words have to deserve the moment. Here is the method behind CaptionsVault.

The draft stage

First drafts get help from AI writing tools, and nothing more. Every line is then edited by a person before it is filed in the vault.

The editing stage

An editor asks of each line: would you write this inside a card by hand? Lines that feel generic, syrupy or recycled are cut. Love captions must sound like one person talking to another, not a greeting printed by the thousand.

Staying original

Each caption is screened against everything already in the vault and against well worn romantic phrases, so you are not posting the same line as half your feed.

Writing about sadness

Our sad captions sit with a feeling without feeding it. We never publish lines that romanticise despair or self harm, and festival pages, Diwali included, stay warm and secular so everyone can share them.
